Units

There are two main changes that can be made in Blender in regard to units.  They can be set to either imperial or metric (or standard-arbitrary Blender) units.  This change can be performed in the scene tab.  Metric is probably the most meaningful as the grid in Blender is in segments of tens.

Also, the edge lengths can be drawn real-time to show size as you are extruding or drawing.  This can be enabled by checking the Edge Length in the attributes panel [n].
